Handmade Books & Mixed Media Art
“I’ve always had a love of books, and began making my own about 15 years ago. It started with a very small, simple book with just one signature, and as I developed my style they became more and more complicated. Evolving from original artwork created from pieces that were designed to be wall hung, as such they are made to differing sizes, number of pages and formats. From square, to landscape to portrait, depending on whether you would want to use them as art journals, notebooks or special family keepsakes.
My background is in embroidery but I love mixed media, combining paper, paint and stitch. I bring these elements together using diverse techniques for the covers and decorating the pages to create my books and journals with a vintage look.”

Here are some books I made for a recent exhibition in Lincoln, which was called ‘Depths of Darkness’.
Mixed Media Art
I love experimenting with paint, paper, fabric and stitch using simple printing techniques, then cutting and collaging different papers and fabrics together to create finished artworks and book covers.
Book kits
These are a selection of books that I have made into kits for people to make at my workshops. They can take from two hours to a whole day, depending on the complexity of the book.
